AdventHealth East Orlando, which is currently undergoing a minor expansion, could soon grow even larger with a new patient tower and a parking garage.
AdventHealth just filed plans with Orange County to add a 4-story vertical tower expansion on the existing building’s south side and an approximately 1,100-square-foot surgery waiting expansion on the building’s north side.
The application doesn’t specify the square footage of the proposed vertical tower or the exact location where the expansion would take place. Most of the south side of the building rises about five stories, but an emergency drop-off area at the southeastern corner of the main building is only one-story. A four-story vertical expansion on top of that section would make it about as tall as the adjacent portion of the front of the building.
Last May, AdventHealth submitted an application to the county for a 7-level structured parking garage on a parking lot just east of the emergency drop-off area and west of S. Chickasaw Trail. The garage would include almost 800 parking spaces, which would be enough to accommodate a major expansion of the hospital.
AdventHealth also filed plans in 2023 for an approximately 3,500-square-foot in-patient/operating room expansion on the north side of the building. A spokesperson for AdventHealth declined to comment on the proposed patient tower expansion and parking garage but confirmed with GrowthSpotter that the operating room expansion is under construction. It will include two operating rooms and accompanying bed space.
AdventHealth is planning a similar expansion at its Celebration hospital, as the healthcare giant plans to add a fourth patient tower with 44,966 square feet of space to the campus. The five-story tower broke ground in January and will add 80 new patient beds and three operating rooms. A portion of the building, which is expected to open in late 2027, will be constructed as shell space to allow for future expansion.
AdventHealth Kissimmee may also expand with an addition that would deliver 21,371 square feet of new surgical space in a parking lot just south of Hilda Steet. The hospital filed plans for the expansion to the City of Kissimmee in October.

AdventHealth, which has an economic impact of more than $1 billion annually in Central Florida, has at least a few other major projects in the works in Orange County.
AdventHealth University broke ground last summer on a 45,897-square-foot educational building next to AdventHealth Orlando and expects to open the facility by December 2025. The building will include new lecture halls, simulation labs, operating rooms, and birthing suites.
The healthcare provider also plans to build an expansive medical supply distribution center on 53.65 acres at 5401 Fudge Rd. in Apopka. The first phase would deliver a pair of warehouses consisting of 38,833 and 46,527 square feet. However, there would be an option to expand the buildings by an additional 37,335 and 29,752 square feet respectively. A second phase would deliver another 300,000-square-foot warehouse.
Collectively, the project could include more than 455,000 square feet of distribution space in addition to a potential third phase on an adjacent 15 acres. While the proposed use of the distribution center isn’t entirely known, a portion of the first phase would be used to prepare meals for local hospitals.
AdventHealth also has plans for a 62,600-square-foot medical campus at 2928 W Kelly Park Rd. in Apopka. The campus will include an emergency department, but it’s not clear yet what other facilities the campus will have.
